Creating Families - 23rd October 2017
The session was on creating families and showed how these families can be loaded into a main file.
Below are the notes taken on the session, and screen shots of the process.

The following is a small exercise I did on creating families using the Lynda tutorials.
1- Creating a new family from a template.
After the file is open it is easier to have different views tiled on screen to see the elevations and 3d views while modelling on the floor plan view. In order to do this use the shortcut w+t to tile and z+a to zoom all.

After drawing in the reference lines, add in dimensions using the shortcup DI for dimensions. After that add parameters to the total dimensions on x and y axises (length and width).

3- Adding solid geometry

Conclusion
This session was helpful as it demonstrated how doors, windows and furniture can be modeled separately as a family. This eases the work and saves time as these families can be imported to various projects that I work on.
